The Booties Are Calling

Sunday, March 19, 2017 Olivia Lemley

Breaking out of winter means veering away from the all-black outfits—or at least adding a pop of color to the all-black outfits. Layered necklaces and belts are always a solid addition to any neutral outfit, but booties are even better. It may just be my love for shoes talking, but booties can make your ordinary outfit into the outfit.

Whether you have pants, a jumpsuit, a dress or skirt you're itching to wear, feel free to pair it with the Song Bird booties by Chinese Laundry. They are available in both red and black in case you aren't able to make the jump from all-black just yet (I understand).
First, let's talk a little bit about why these booties are awesome:
1. Red is just as much of a classic as black, but it has an extra kick of confidence.
2. For a spontaneous night out, your toes do not need to be polished.
3. You won't have to toss them into storage for winter because they're multi-seasonal
4. Don't worry about your feet going numb because they have very comfy soles (not kidding).
5. They won't be going out of style any time soon.
4. Lastly, red is sexy.

Tips For Styling:
My first styling tip is to pair these Song Bird booties with a leather skirt and an oversized, white tunic. The leather paired with the booties incorporate strength into the look, while the tunic softens things up. Rules are made to be broken; the rules about not mixing patterns has been abolished and so has the rule that leather only goes during the winter months. Lightweight leather pants and skirts for spring should never be turned down—faux leather, of course.

Nonetheless, you are not limited to pairing these red booties with neutral colored outfits. Don't be afraid to pair them with a colorful dress or romper; go bold or go home! Although I they go great with pants, these booties would go great with a full skirt for a more feminine look.

For those of you who are following trend reports, denim on denim is delicious! Rockin' these booties with a neutral, knit shirt tucked in to a pair of cropped jeans, topped off with an embroidered jean jacket will let your inner badass shine. Don't let the opportunity go by! Check out Chinese Laundry for your next pair of shoes.

Don't let your style end above the ankles.
