Things Get Cray At Smack Shack

When I am not hanging out in my home base neighborhood of Logan Square, you can usually find me in the West Loop!  Not too long ago, the West Loop was a less than desirable place to be, but now, it is thee place to go for some of Chicago's best restaurants and upscale hangouts.



Joining the scene, seafood restaurant, Smack Shack moved into the Fulton Market neighborhood, earlier this past spring.  Originally launched as a food truck in downtown Minneapolis, Smack Shack gained quite a following and has now expanded to two brick and mortar locations!  Their seafood-focused menu features coastal favorites, like the Old Bay seasoned lobster boils and a drool-worthy lobster roll.

This year, Smack Shack hosted their first annual Crayfest, here in Chicago! The festival included an all-you-can eat Louisiana style cray fish boil, $5 hurricane cocktails and live music by The Four Star Brass Band - now that's what I call a party!





My friend Sarah, of Lost Girls Vintage, and I enjoyed the fare and atmosphere, while having too much fun playing with our food (making crayfish dance across a table is very entertaining!).  Our server for the evening was so much fun, proudly rocking a lobster hat the entire event!


 I'm looking forward to my next weekend off, so I can try out their unlimited brunch buffet.  A Benedict bar, bloody marys, oysters; sounds like my kind of brunch!
