Advice from a Stylist: 5 Summer Hair Care Must Have's

Saturday, July 23, 2016 Michelle Landriault

You guys remember Deron Edward? He’s an amazing hairstylist and educator with Aveda. He’s Civello’s creative director at the North Ave location, and most of all hes MY hairstylist. I often bug him for information while I’m in his chair, he’s always super awesome about educating me on the do’s and dont’s for my hair.

Lucky for you guys I sat down with him and asked him some tough questions about hair products I should be using. He gave me so many ideas, and so much knowledge on each product… I had to share this with you.
We narrowed it down to 5 (or 6 because I love product) summer must haves that you’ll definitely want in your hair regime.
Summer Hair Looks and Challenges
This summer hair trends are still seeing braids, especially for the festival crowd. Otherwise hair this summer is looking effortless and chic. Depending on your climate there are a whole host of hair challenges that come with the arrival of summer. Sun exposure can fade your hair color, and even turn your natural brunette tones into a red tinged nightmare. Humidity can ruin your carefully styled look and bring frizz out in places you never knew you had it. Fortunately there are options that won’t require you to change your entire styling routine!

I have some struggles with my hair, especially in the summer time. I always look to Deron for some education on product mainly to help me achieve the latest trends, if you’re blonde and color treated like me then hold on tight help is on the way!
Sun Care Hair and Body Cleanser
All those trips to the pool and even swimming in the ocean can do a number on the look and feel of your hair, as well as strip your color (or depending on the pool, turn it green.) This gentle cleanser is specifically formulated to remove salt and chlorine build up to keep your hair and skin fresh!
Sun Care After-Sun Hair Masque
Over exposure to the sun creates a unique type of stress to the hair that requires the right balance of conditioning to correct and protect against. This masque is perfect for protecting and restoring both virgin and color treated hair that has been dried or damaged by the sun.
Sun Care Protective Hair Veil
This lightweight mist protects your hair and hair color from UV fading, while adding moisture and shine. It also tames frizz and is a great tool for refreshing your second day hair.
Color Conserve Daily Color Protect
This leave in conditioner seals your color and boosts shine while protecting your color from the elements. Keep your color looking fresh like the day you got it with this treatment.
Control Force Hairspray
For those of us with really thick and corse hair that want to keep it smooth, control force is your secret weapon. Spray it over a finished style and brush through to set the style, while also adding UV and humidity defense.
Aveda Brilliant Shine on Spray is another nice little piece to have in your collection. This is a great way for blondes to add some shine back into their hair and finish off a look.
