Secret Revealed: How to get the Perfect Beach Wave Curl

Tuesday, May 03, 2016 Elaine Rau

Ever wonder how to get the perfect beachy wave look every single day? I have uncovered the two secrets that you need to know as told to me by celebrity stylist, Sarah Potempa. The first secret is to keep the ends of your hair, like a good few inches, and to hold the iron vertical to your head. See the diagram below:

The second secret is investing in the Beachwaver Curling Iron sold exclusively at Ulta - it truly is an all inclusive tool that will replace all your other curling irons and wands. It comes in three sizes, the 0.75, 1.25, and 1.75 and you can see them on the left side of the picture below beside Sarah and I:

I had the pleasure of meeting celebrity stylist Sarah Potempa, the creator of the Beachwaver, a few days ago and tried out her product. When I pulled it out of the box the first thing I noticed (and was pleasantly surprised by) was how big it was compared to my other curling irons. With a longer barrel, you can grab more hair at once, curl your hair in half the time, and accommodate more styles as shown in the picture below:

Sarah curled one side of my hair with the 1.25 sized curling iron and the other with the .75 size, you can see the difference in the curl pattern and how it flows. The next day I woke up with my hair still looking fabulous!

Sarah also invented the Darby Clip which designed to hold more hair because of its curved design, unlike its traditional counterpart where your hair spills out of the other side. It actually clamps and locks down all the hair - it is really nice for people with long hair! Check out how it works below:
