Skinny Jean Styling Tips

Friday, February 26, 2016 Emily Ehardt Blog

Hello everyone and happy Friday! As the weekend quickly approaches, I am going to give you some tips on how to style a weekend staple piece: the skinny jean. I am sure that almost every woman has a pair of skinny jeans in her closet just waiting to be created into a fashion forward look. While this garment may seem casual or boring, when paired with the right add-ons, it can be the basis for an incredible ensemble. Check out my tips below on how to achieve your perfect skinny jean look:
1.  Find the right pair first and foremost! Try out different washes and brands to find your perfect fit. The top of the waistband of the jeans should hit two fingers length below your belly button to get the correct rise. Also, a dark wash is going to make your bottom half look a lot longer and leaner than a light wash. However, designers are having fun playing with patterns, colors, and embellishments, so you can too by incorporating a unique pair into your wardrobe.
2. Add garments that contrast the jeans. For example, pair a dark wash skinny with a beaded blouse and edgy heels for a modern take. You can also add a ruffled blouse and flats to make the look girly, which contrasts the roughness of the jeans.
3. When in doubt toss on a leather jacket. My all time favorite combination for a casual weekend look is a great pair of skinny jeans and a cool leather jacket. This look is timeless and is the perfect way to embrace your inner cool girl. Toss on a t-shirt, statement necklace, and great pair of boots and your look is complete.
4. Try styling tricks, such as cuffing your denim at the bottom to show off your shoes. Also, try half tucking your blouse into the jeans to make the look personally yours.
