Grey winter weather leave you pining to be some place other than Chicago? Perhaps you’re thinking about setting up some travel plans for later in the year. The 2016 Chicago Travel and Adventure Show is on now at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.

Beside the 350 exhibitors displaying thousands of fun travel destinations, there are educational seminars, performances and culinary demonstrations. This is your chance to hear travel experts like Rick Steves and Pauline Frommer discuss how to travel smartly and get the most bang for your travel dollars. Travel guru Johnny Jet will tell you how to fly cleaply and which apps work the best to save serious money.

Part of traveling is experiencing new culinary experiences. The 2016 Chicago Travel and Adventure Show plays host to the Taste of Travel Stage with many entertaining and international chefs. They show how to make some speciality dishes at home to get you in the spirit of travel. There are wine tastings and food samples as well as book signings from chefs like IACP Award–winning Teacher of the Year and Author of Indian Cooking Unfolded Raghavan Iyer.




Culturally diverse dance and music performances from around the world will be performed live and continuously. See Bollywood Dancer, Nordic Folk Dancing, Muay Thai Boxing, as well as members from the Mexican Folkloric Dance Company and the Isla Pacifika Polynesian Dancing Company. There is much to see but also some hands on things for parents and kids alike. Ride a live camel or try out a Segway or Trikke. Hurry on over to 5555 N River Road in Rosemont to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. Yes – it is easily accessible by the CTA. Exit at the River Road stop on thet  blue line. It is a very short bus ride south to the center. Should you want to drive, parking is located across from the Center directly behind the Embassy Suites Hotel should you want to drive. Garage parking is $13. Show hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 23 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 24.
