New Year, Chi-Town

Chicago is one of the greatest cities in America. I will vouch for that based on experience. Between the beautiful skylines, luxury hotels, and accessibility Chicago is the place to be. According to WalletHub, Chicago ranks in the top 50 for 6 categories and top 100 for 4 categories in a recent study (I provided the list of Chicago’s rankings at the bottom). One of the best things about this particular city is that it is ranked 8th for walkability. That means all the best parties and venues are easy to access (That’s good for you!!!). I am here to break it down for you so you can plan your best New Year’s yet. Let’s start off with where to eat dinner before you run off to ring in the new year.

A Chicago favorite, Harry Caray’s, has special deal on New Year’s eve at Water Tower Place, Lombard, Chicago, and Rosemont locations. Here is the menu!!
Next up is Frontier in West Town. They have a special deal from 8pm-1am. If this is a favorite place of yours, don’t miss it! Check it out here.
Fig and Olive is hosting a White and Gold Party. Put on your best and head over to Oak Street for a good meal and a better night. Here is your invitation!

In addition to these few restaurants I have listed above, you can’t go wrong with food in Chicago. Pick your favorite and treat yourself to a nice bottle of wine to start your night off right. Now where do you go after that lovely meal? I’ve got you covered.

Don’t forget the perfect New Year’s Eve outfit! As far as shopping goes, the Magnificent Mile is the place to be. That is all I have to say about that!

If you’re lucky enough to be in Chicago on New Year’s Eve, you know the hotel parties are always amazing. The following hotels will be hosting parties: The Drake, Palmer House Hilton, JW Marriott, Sofitel Hotel Paris, Hard Rock Hotel. In addition to hotel venues, there is so much to do in the city on the last day/night of the year.

Have you heard about the Chicago Resolution Gala? Not only is this a prime location, Navy Pier, but this gala will include 30 bars, an incredible food spread, live djs, and local radio station B96. If you are looking for something more up the music alley, Chicago will not disappoint. Right down the street will be Chi-Town Rising. There are multiple ways to be apart of Chi-Town Rising. Broadcast Boulevard will be the home of the countdown stage, and the Corona Beach House will have hospitality tents. American Authors and Chicago will both be performing at the countdown stage, in addition to many other rising artists. To end the night, fireworks will be displayed over the lake for all to see.

If you are looking for something to do with the family, Chi-Town Rising has something for you too. Family Countdown Celebration on the Chicago Cultural Mile is aimed for families looking for a way to celebrate the new year. This event will take place from 3pm-6pm in Millennium Park. Show your kids the excitement of New Year’s without the late night hours. All in all, Chi-Town Rising has something for everyone.

There is something for every music fan this year. If Chi-Town Rising doesn’t have your taste of music one of these other options will. There will be blues music at Kingston Mines, pop/rock at Thalia Hall, and jazz at Andy’s Jazz Club or Howl at the Moon if you are looking for some food and something fancier. There will be nightclubs with djs playing at Roof, Redmoon, and 8fifty8 just to name a few. Want to try something different? Head over to Lucky Strike for bowling and food with a nightclub type atmosphere. Check it out here!

Money can be tight around the holidays, but by planning ahead you can save so much money. The further in advance you plan, the more bargains you will find. High end hotels are even going less than $200 a night, this is a huge bargain for Chicago! You can also find tons of 3-5 star hotels with other deals for the exciting night.

Overall, there is only one thing that you have to do on New Year’s Eve, have fun!! If you are celebrating in Chicago I am excited for you. Have a great time and Happy New Year from Halfstack:)
