Halfstack Highlights Ep. 34 - Behind the Brand: Meet Dream Beard

Wednesday, November 11, 2015 HALFSTACK MAGAZINE

In today’s episode of Halfstack Highlights, I talk with the founders of Dream Beard: The husband and wife duo- Ryan and Brittany Lane. Dream Beard is more than a brand, it is a lifestyle. Dream Beard sells high quality hair, beard, and body products to help you embrace that lifestyle. Brittany and Ryan believe their company is something people can connect with.

We talk about how the idea to launch a business came about, the ups and downs of entrepreneurship and where they hope to see their business in a few years. We also talked about what they're doing to help push the Movember Movement forward. If you aren't aware, Movember is a byproduct of The Movember Foundation which is a global charity committed to men living happier, healthier, longer lives. Since 2003, millions have joined the men’s health movement, raising $650 million and funding over 1,000 programs focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity. This year, Dream Beard has planned some great programs, events and promotions to help support Movember.  If you're interested in getting involved you can check out us.movember.com for more info! Ryan and Brittany’s amazing attitude and fun personalities made this one of my favorite calls. I feel like I made a couple of new friends and was definitely inspired as I hope you all will be! The Dream Beard team is a true testament to the idea that if you put in the work, remain humble and hustle hard - you can make your dreams come true. Brittany and Ryan's persistence has truly paid off, but I honestly feel their success runs much deeper than that. The fact that they put building relationships at the forefront of their business showcases that they are in it for the long haul. The businesses they get to work with turn into friendships and the customers turn into loyal clients and even family.

Their true to life outlook and the reality that they share can be eye opening for many. The glamorization of self employment can create this false sense of security for people who aren't knee deep in running their own business. Yet, they keep it real. Their candid thoughts on the hardships and uncertainties gave us a much more realistic view of what running a small business is really like.
