The Taylor gang rapper came out to Chicago to share music from his new album ‘Free TC’. He named it after his brother TC who is in prison for a murder that he didn’t commit.

His musicianship showed through the songs he played. The rapper even admitted to spending $60,000 on a live orchestra to get the authentic sound he wanted for the project.  Ty himself can play bass, drum, guitar, and keyboard. His versatile sound was a crowd pleaser. His artistry really sets him apart from other rappers and it showed. His passion for what he does was crystal clear, seeing how excited he was at the positive reactions of the listeners.

When asked whom he would like to work with in the future he says John Mayer, “Him playing guitar and I play the bass and just going back and forth I think that would be stupid”.  The people who influence Ty range from Lauryn Hill to Stevie Wonder. The artist also talked to his connection with Tupac, “for his lyrics and how he could touch you.”

He goes on to explain how the unique sound of the album, “...just came natural. You know what happened man when I was making all the paranoids and all those old songs that I made, and then I felt like right after paranoid came out ten other paranoids came out. So I’m like how can I do something different? I knew I needed to keep the drums at least familiar to what people vibe to but I was just toying with different sounds.”

Ty Dolla $ign’s new album ‘Free TC’ is set to come out this fall. You will be able to expect tracks featuring Kendrick Lamar, Future, Wiz Khalifa, R. Kelly, Fetty Wap, YG and Trey Songz. Until then you can check out his latest single “Blasé” feat. Future & Rae Sremmurd:
