Casual Fashion to Transition Into Fall

Monday, August 31, 2015 HALFSTACK MAGAZINE

Yes, it is that time. That time when we begin to talk about transitional fashion. We will be bidding adieu to beautiful summer and welcoming the chill and crisp air of fall. It's the weird transitional period that can make dressing difficult and confusing. It's like you can experience 3 seasons in one day here in Chicago. For this reason alone, layering will be your best bet to get you through the strange weather.

Your wardrobe will end up working double duty as we transition from summer into fall. You don't have to pack away your summer pieces just yet! With just a few simple styling tricks your favorite warm-weather basics will work beautifully for fall (or from casual to office-friendly...or day to night!)You can layer a chic blazer or sweater on top of your favorite strappy summer dress to lengthen its wearabiltity.

This striped piece from Duffield lane is an incredible versatile item to add to your transition wardrobe. It's a thicker knit that is still breathable, but warm enough to keep you cozy indoors if you're dealing with an AC crazy office and perfect to transition you into the cooler evenings. The fact that it is reversible gives you more styling options to work with.

Ideal for: travels, fickle dressers who like to change their look mid-day, ladies prone to little spill mishaps (just reverse it!) and for season transitions when a thick jacket is too much but a long sleeve tee just wont cut it. Style it casual with lightwash skinny jeans, chic flats and a plain white tee half tucked with layered rose gold necklaces - take it up a notch by adding some nude heels for a night out.  For a dressier option layer it over a strappy dress and add in strappy heels. Pull your hair in a bun and add some dangle earrings and you're set.

Don't be afraid to bare some leg at the end of the warm season. Just keep the chill at bay by adding chic knee or thigh highs or a full length tight. These adorable socks from Living Royal are a great addition to your look. Living Royal is a fun Chicago based brand that caters to colorful hippy in each of us.
