Halfstack Summer Issue Release Party and Body Love Beauty Bar at SoloSalon

Friday, July 24, 2015 HALFSTACK MAGAZINE

Halfstack launched our Summer issue this month and we celebrated with an issue release party at the amazing Solo Salon. Our Beautybar parties are always a blast and Solo was kind enough to work with us this year to create a fun and relaxing atmosphere to celebrate our readers, issue, designers and all he creative individuals involved in the making of our summer issue.

If you haven't checked out Solo yet, what are you waiting for? Their team is amazing and all have mad skills that are sure to keep you feeling gorgeous. Solo opened its doors January 6th, 2006 with a plan to play the best music, share great energy and create the most unique customized looks. Being in the industry 12 years prior to opening the salon’s doors, Kristine, the owner always had a dream to hold a house of creative people built on innovation, warmth and style.

When the doors opened Kristine and her husband Michael made the vow to stay true to the meaning of Solo. Everyone is unique and sometimes that uniqueness is buried. Recognizing this opens ideas and creates inspiration to us as hairdressers. We love what we do because of the people who trust us. So we create, as the definition of Solo “an act done by a single artist”. We create Solo looks “a unique look for you”.

The opening crowd at Solo Salon

The salon had Michael on hand for the evening showcasing his stellar barber skills, offering clean shaves for the guys and a stylist on board to pamper the ladies. There was also a manicurist on hand polishing the night away. You can get a look into the salon on youtube channel HERE.

Halfstack's summer "Body Love" issue focused on featuring models of ALL SIZES, finding beauty in our flaws and highlighting people in the industry who are pushing the #effyourbeautystandards movement started by Tess Holiday. We showcased a beautiful photography gallery on site at the salon with work from one of our talented lead photographers: Laura Lopez. Laura is one half of the Pickapose Photography duo who we work with on so many of our editorials. This issue Laura really pushed herself creatively with our features, but even more so with her #bodylove special feature. This series showcased people who are scarred, faced health scares, have had body issues or didn't love themselves nearly enough, but who are starting to come to terms and find the beauty in their flaws.

Our guests were pampered at the Beauty Bar and enjoyed an evening of complimentary services and drinks courtesy of Caffeinated Club and Kill Cliff while checking out our editorials featuring Borris Powell, Fermented Fruit, CambyCam and True Partners in Craft all shot by Laura Lopez of PickAPose Photography. They also enjoyed sweet treats & chocolate provided by the newly opened Ghirardelli Chocolate & Ice Cream Shop in The Wrigley Building.

The Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, maker of premium chocolate products, recently opened a second Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop in Chicago at the end of June. Located inside The Wrigley Building, the store will be Ghirardelli’s largest, boasting two stories covering 7,300 square feet, indoor seating for 95 including a community table, and a beautiful outdoor patio for 25 people. The shop is adorned with two indoor custom vintage Ghirardelli light bulb marquees, The Wrigley Building location combines the popular Ice Cream Shop with an expanded retail store selling unique products and gifts. A special Chocolatier Station will house a flowing milk chocolate tap and fresh, hand-crafted products including slabs, molded bars and seasonal figures.

Body Love Feature and Caffeinated Club

We were also excited to team up with local Chicago brands like Caffeinated Club for this event. Caffeinated Club® is the perfect choice for every caffeine lover at all hours of the day. This unique beverage can easily transition from a simple morning alternative to coffee, to a convenient midday pick-me-up, to a light and refreshing alcohol mixer in the evening. Without sugars, colors, artificial sweeteners, or calories, this is an appealing alternative for health conscious individuals. The brand was launched Rocky Mosele, Founder of Chicago based, Rocky’s Beverages LLC. He saw the need for a beverage that was as convenient as a soft drink that contains caffeine without the strong taste, sugar, chemicals, or calories.

Kill Cliff is a great energy drink that has a purpose. Their recovery drinks are loaded with electrolytes, vitamins and micronutrients for replenishment. The brand gives to athletes and gives to the community through their partnership with the Navy Seal Foundation.  So much better than your typical sugar loaded energy drinks! Guests also received complimentary goody bags from Solo Salon featuring Bumble and Bumble products as well as coupons from local Boutiques and Arbonne products from Naperville based Galleria Girl Boutique

Overall, the evening was a success and it was amazing to be able to connect with the local Chicago readers and showcase all the amazingly talented people who put so much hard work into this publication!
